:Coming down from Cooke's Townsite, with Al Green: While hunting scorpions and cruising down the back roads of Luna County, New Mexico, in the Cooke's Range near Deming, Kari McWest, with colleagues Tom Anton, Chad Lee, and Alex Zuniga, were making time in Kari's newly acquired 1993 Isuzu Trooper RS 2dr 4x4 (a rare vehicle!). The musical selections on Kari's phone player fit the bill perfectly, so we decided to hit video-record! On this venture, Alex and Chad were dropped off to hunt scorpions while Tom and Kari headed higher to find more habitat. Kari and Alex found one each of what we needed. =) The rougher parts of the roads here were not recorded due to safety.

A surveillance camera set up by Santa Fe County to catch graffiti vandals on public property instead recorded footage of a uniformed New Mexico state police officer apparently having sex with a woman. The sheriff's office confirms the video was taken on county land at the Santa Fe Canyon Ranch, a 470-acre spread that includes a 7,800-square-foot mansion, guest quarters, a foreman's residence, swimming pool, tennis courts, a barn, corrals and a lake. The sheriff's office says the unidentified officer faces an internal investigation, KOB TV reports. The office released two photographs of the scene under a public records request by the Albuquerque Journal. The Journal says the photos show a man in a police uniform standing and leaning over a woman, who is lying on the hood of a compact car with her bare legs around the man's body. The camera's point of view is above and behind the officer. His utility belt, with handcuffs attached, hangs behind him. At one point, the officer appears to be looking toward the camera. Sheriff Robert Garcia says that although nothing illegal appeared to be going on in the pictures, they seemed to depict "inappropriate" activity, the Journal reports. When the Journal broke the news of the incident this month, here was Garcia's initial response: "I'm glad it was not one of my deputies."
